Meet Our Practitioners

During your first appointment, you will be asked to fill out a confidential health history form, which we will discuss as part of your initial intake; a treatment plan will be made based on our chat about your past and current condition, as well as through a physical exam involving palpation of the Hara (abdomen), pulse taking, and observation of the tongue and specific points on the limbs.

Because you and your body are constantly changing, no two sessions will be exactly alike - all treatments are tailored to address you uniquely as you are at that time. Aurora offers trigger point dry needling as indicated for acute muscle and nerve pain relief as well as traditional Japanese and Chinese Classical styles of acupuncture needling; moxibustion (moxa), cupping, gua sha, and both passive and active electro-stimulation may be incorporated. Also included in each session is time to discuss nutrition and helpful lifestyle suggestions; you will be provided with easy to follow self-care methods which make in-office treatments more effective as well as improve your ability to stand on your own and prevent illness and injury in the future.

Please reserve 60-75 minutes for your first appointment; follow-up appointments may last anywhere from 40-60 minutes. Once you have come for your initial session, 30, 60, or 90 minute massages can be added to follow-up appointments. Generally, you should expect to come in for a series of treatments; recommendations as to frequency of visits will be discussed with you at each appointment as progress is made. For more detailed information about acupuncture, please visit Aurora's website at http://www.manifest-wellness.com.

Massage therapy styles may include: Swedish of varying intensity, deep tissue, sports techniques, myofascial release, trigger point therapy, and/or acupressure. You will have an opportunity at the beginning of your session to discuss your body's unique needs at that time and are welcome to make requests throughout your massage to be sure you get the very most out of your experience! We blend our own oils in a nut-free, hypoallergenic, organic base oil; all-natural essential oils and herbal infusions may be added as desired or indicated for your intended session. Massage sessions are available in 30, 60, and 90 minute increments; if you have already come for an initial acupuncture session, you may also include massage as part of any follow-up acupuncture appointment.

Prenatal Massage

When performed by a trained and experienced massage therapist, prenatal massage is safe and effective throughout the entirety of pregnancy save for a couple of specific contraindications; for your session, you will be in a side-lying position, supported by as many pillows as you need to feel comfortable and relaxed. Aurora has 10 years of experience supporting people of all genders throughout the reproductive cycle and her prenatal massage is also informed by her many years of work as a doula; for more information about prenatal massage and pregnancy support, please visit Aurora's website at http://www.mooninthewomb.com.

Reiki is a form of hands-on energy healing, which promotes health and spiritual/emotional well-being by encouraging the release of negative energy from the body. It is beneficial as a stand-alone session and continues to facilitate healing or maintain health/relaxation over a series of sessions. Reiki healing also pairs well with other services. For more information about reiki check out our blog post.
